BRATISLAVA, February 15, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovakia would welcome more Chinese investments and closer cooperation with this country, stated Slovak Deputy Prime Minister for investments Lubomir Vazny. He met with Deputy Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Hui Liangyu on Friday. Members of the Chinese delegation also included Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Song Tao and Vice Minister of Commerce Shan Zhong.

The development of political dialogue between both countries is an impulse according to Vazny to revive mutual cooperation as both the Slovak Republic and China have an intention to boost and improve their export-import balance. “Slovakia has certain reserves in this field,’” added Vazny. The value of Slovak imports from China represents 3.6 billion euros annually on exports it is only EUR 1.7 billion. “Certainly we would welcome if China expands to Slovakia to a greater extent,” said Vazny.

Representatives of Slovakia and China signed two memorandums after Friday’s talks on cooperation in the agricultural sector and in the sector of small and medium-size businesses. Vazny said that it is necessary to continue the activities that have been already developed mainly in the electrotechnical industry where Chinese companies have been already established in Slovakia. In May, a mission of Slovak businesspeople organized by the Economy Ministry should visit China. while a similar mission from China is to come to Slovakia in the autumn.
